Professional Bookkeeping

Every transaction coded, every account reconciled, and a monthly set of statements with a note on the front telling you what they say. If you are months or years behind, the catch-up is part of the job, not a reason to turn the work down.

Who this is for.

  • You are months, or years, behind on reconciliations.
  • You look at a P&L and cannot tell whether it is right.
  • Your CPA asks for the books and you lose a week getting them together.
  • You are doing the coding yourself at ten at night.

Exactly what you get.

Every transaction coded

Bank, card and cash, coded to a chart of accounts that matches how you actually run the business rather than the default list your software shipped with.

Every account reconciled, monthly

Bank, credit card and loan accounts tied out to the statement. This is the step that decides whether any other number on the page can be trusted.

Payables and receivables current

What you owe, what you are owed, and how old each one is, kept current instead of reconstructed at year end.

A monthly close, with a note

Profit and loss, balance sheet and cash position, plus a short written note on what moved and what to look at. The statements are the deliverable, the note is the reason you read them.

Catch-up work, priced separately and finished

If the books are behind, I bring them current before the monthly work starts, and you get one number for that job up front.

A clean handoff to your CPA

Year-end books your CPA can file from, and I talk to them directly rather than making you the messenger.

How the work runs.

  1. 1A look at the booksI open what you have, find out how far behind it is, and tell you what shape it is in. No charge for this.
  2. 2One number, both partsA flat monthly rate for the ongoing work, and a separate flat price for the catch-up if there is any.
  3. 3Catch-up firstThe backlog gets cleared and reconciled before anything is called current, so the first monthly report you see is a real one.
  4. 4Then the monthly rhythmBooks closed and statements sent every month, on the same schedule, with the note on the front.

What it costs.

A flat monthly rate, quoted after I have seen the books. Catch-up work is quoted separately, once, as a fixed price.

There is no hourly billing and no onboarding fee. You will have the number before you commit to anything.
